Privacy Policy
This is an outline of how Local Finds handles information while we launch in Birmingham. It will be expanded before we take payments at scale.
What we collect
When you submit a business, we collect the details you enter in the form — business name, contact name, email, phone number, social links, location, description and any links to images you share.
Why we collect it
We use it to review your submission, build your Local Finds listing, and contact you about it. If you join our email updates, we use your address to send occasional Local Finds news.
Sharing
We don't sell your information. Details you provide for a public listing (such as your business description, area and contact links) are published as part of that listing.
Website analytics
Only if you accept analytics in our cookie banner, we record page views, searches and clicks on business contact links (website, social, phone, email, directions), together with the page path, referring site, device type (mobile, tablet or desktop) and a random visitor ID stored in your browser. We use this to understand which pages and businesses are useful and to report engagement to listed businesses. It is stored in our own database and not shared with advertisers. We don't collect your name or IP address in these records.
Lawful basis
Analytics relies on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time through Cookie Settings in the footer. Business submissions are processed so we can review and publish the listing you asked for and contact you about it.
Retention
Analytics records keep the random visitor ID and referring site for a rolling 12 months. After that a daily automatic process removes them, leaving only anonymous counts. If you withdraw consent, we stop recording and delete the visitor ID from your browser. Submission and listing details are kept while the listing is active or until you ask us to remove them.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to access, correct or delete your information, object to or restrict its use, and withdraw consent at any time. Contact us by email or Instagram. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Your choices
You can ask us to update or remove your listing or contact details at any time by emailing us or messaging us on Instagram. See our Cookie Policy for the browser storage we use.
Questions? Message us on Instagram and we'll come back to you.
